same mass storage controller drivers HWJ, XP will survive that...

It's a Dell. They don't always give you a 100% drop-in part. Best to be ready to reinstall in any event.

That does look like the real deal to me. Not too long ago I did see one in the flesh. It is BTX so it is going to fit the case, it has the markings you want, the description is E521 so I'd say get one.

evasive, thanks for your input, I asked the seller if it was a UW457 and he said it was. I'll get it today.

I loaned my friend a HP mini that I had here so she's got internet access and I can tell her the repair is in progress. I'll post when I get it done.

yep, if there's anything you want to ask, let us know. Make sure you have some thermal paste handy as you'll need to clean the CPU and the cooler and re-apply that.
