I am voting for Windows XP Pro. I have used every operating system by Microsoft since DOS 2.1 except Windows ME. XP combines the stability of 2000 with the usabilty of 98. On a fast machine it is sweat. It has also been the easiest for me to network.

I will admit however that my favorite operating system to date was OS/2 Warp. It seemed more responsive that any Microsoft System, was more customizable and had REXX as a programming language.

i would have to goo with xp pro it looks nice stable advance cutting edge all kinds of other stuff but its only good for fast comp if you hae less than 1ghz its crap

I've had all of those operating systems, and I choose Win98SE, though I would choose Linux for design, stability, and security - if only I could play Counter-Strike on it. All Windoze's are insecure piles of dung, and Linux is free. Down with capitalism!

Well it's a good thing i have Over Clocked my computer then, i have to say XP pro, is the best of the lot of them!

You just don't know the "secret" capabilities of Windows XP. It is too good, we are forgetting to turn the unturned. After Win 2000, I will go Linux, at least my secret is still unknow to anybody even to a giant like Microsoft.

I have XP Pro running on my P2 433mhz machine and it is great. I wouldn't say it is crap on <1ghz. I haven't noticed any speed drop from 98 to XP. My only gripe against XP is that it takes up way too much space on my 14gb hard drive ( :oops:) wheras 98 wasn't quite so big.

Win XP pro is great, stable and boots fast. Linux is just so much better if you know how to use it ( which i dont ). For a server there is no competition you would go linux. Win 98 SE is good for gaming, but win xp is too. I run win xp pro right now and i like it alot.

I hacve owned and used every windows OS sinci 1.0.2 ...(dual boot now...win xp pro, and linux red hat 7.2 pro).... I love them both way better than any other i have used........
Beginner OS I would reccomend XP pro (ease of use)
Beginner I would reccomend Red Hat (open source is a better way to go, and it's easier to learn if you aren't used to another)
