hey, i've seen a lot of people raggin' on this program lately, but i have never had a problem with it. a lot of people say nero is way better. why?

can anyone give any specifics on why this didn't work well for them. is it an update issue? an os issue? what gives?

You don't have as much control over the burn process with Easy CD Creator than you do with Nero. There have been many incompatibility issues with it not wanting to work with certain burners and there are always patches coming out for it. It's a decent program, but it's still simply inferior to Nero. Kind of like Paintshop Pro is a good app but not anywhere near as good as Photoshop.

Does Nero come with a Scandisk component and CD error fixing capabilities? I know the ez cd platinum version has the capabilities of fixing the cd filesystems and can recover and save files from damage CDs. So don't jump to conclusion before you know for sure that Nero has such capabilities.

I've never used Nero but I see where they release a new version frequently. Each has some features the other does not and they are not compatable together as far as I know. IE: Nero will burn bin/cue files but not ECDC. I'm presently using ECDC 6. Its a big improvement over 5 for stability. I like the simplicity of it and it gives me no problems.

While the cheaper versions of Easy CD Coaster are total crap IMHO, the Platinum version does work alot better, but then you have to pay more for it.

I have used practically every burning software out there, and the only two that I use regularly are Nero and NTI CD Maker. Occasionally, I need to use CloneCD depending on the file structure of the CD.

I believe there are 2 programs with same name not sure if its just diferent version or what

I haven't used Nero yet, therefore I refrain myself from any comparison between EZ CD Platinum and Nero. However, I can tell you guys that EZ CD saves me in more than one occasions. I had several CDs with damage or corrupt filesystems, with EZ CD Platinum, I was able to scandisk the CDs and recover the files. Sometimes, EZ CD Platinum was able to even correct the CD filesystems.

To me that is the most important advanced feature that burning software could provide. If Nero doesn't have scandisk capabilities and filesystems error correction, there is no way it can be superior to EZ CD Platinum.

The reason I made a conditional statement above is because I haven't used Nero yet. So I would like a Nero user to tell me whether Nero can do such thing. Because advanced features such as scandisk and filesystems error correction are the key to decide on which product is superior. If Nero doesn't have them, then I would have to conclude it is inferior to EZ CD Platinum.

I had the same problem with some CDs I burned. The question I ask myself now, is why did the CD go bad? Was it EZCD file system? The disk was fine one day, then it wasn't. I haven't had the problem since, but I no longer use CDRWs, and I only buy Sony Supremas CDs(can't take the chance anymore).

I also received a copy of Nero with my new computer, so I've been trying it out. Haven't installed my copy of EZCD platinum yet. Maybe I won't have to?
