I'm in love with OS X. My videographer friend has it and after I played around with it a little I was hooked.

But I can't really justify the price of an Apple for it. :-)

64 bit cpu's and a 1 ghz fsb- sure sounds like it's going to kick some serious ass! wonder about the 1 ghz fsb claims, and if actual fsb, or just a multiple of the actual fsb?

Evidently, the FSB is for real, hence part of why it is so expensive.

I suspected that it might take a 'man's mouse', but the guy I know who bought the poncy thing a/ wouldn't try the ms explorer I offered him, and b/ wasn't sure that he'd cope with more than one button.

Lol. Figures.

They get around one button by using one of the keyboard modifier keys - but with the advent of USB and firewire and all the other goodies they're getting closer every day to each other.

this didn't start off in the hundred year war did it? funny how it's made its way there isn't it? see what you started smurf_pimp LOL. anyway, as i said earlier, this is all an advertising scheme by apple. just to reiterate, apple states that:

System throughput (dual G5)
SPECfp_rate_base2000 = 15.7
SPECint_rate_base2000 = 17.2
Single processor speed power pc G5
SPECfp_base2000 = 840
SPECin_base2000 = 800

well i did a little research on the SPEC website and low and behold! was there actually a pc that out-performs the g5? there can't be. the g5 "is the world's fastest, most powerful computer." whatever:

System throughput (dual 1.8 Opteron)
SPECfp_rate_base2000 = 22.5
http://www.specbench.org/osg/cpu2000/results/res2003q2/cpu2000-20030421-02084.html
SPECint_rate_base2000 = 24.0
http://www.specbench.org/osg/cpu2000/results/res2003q2/cpu2000-20030421-02085.html
Single processor speed (P4 3.0)
SPECfp_base2000 = 1201
http://www.specbench.org/osg/cpu2000/results/res2003q2/cpu2000-20030422-02125.html
SPECint_base2000 = 1164
http://www.specbench.org/osg/cpu2000/results/res2003q2/cpu2000-20030422-02135.html

it looks like apple is basing these results on the 3.06 that came out last year!

IN YOUR FACE APPLE!

Q:

Can we change the title of this area to The Twenty Year War?
:)

That would be more accurate.
