MHZ vs. MHZ

Postby f1gtrlm » Sat Jun 29, 2002 12:27 pm

OK, first of in the battle between AMD and Intel is that intel is using higher clocked cpu's than AMD.

EXAMPLE: AMD xp @ 1.66 (2000+) vs. Intel P4 @ 2.O

You see! Intel has the advantage. It's also funny because some of the test that was perform to see who is the true speed demon is mostly in Intel's favor, or choice.

I think they should put an Intel P4 @ 1.6 vs. an AMD xp @ 1.6, then things will start to get interesting.

PLEASE STATE YOUR OPINION!

Intels are better than AMDs. It's pretty simple to say why: production. Intel makes CPU's faster than AMD that perform better. So what if the AMD cpu at equal megahertz would be a lot faster? Intel makes cpu's with hella lot more mhz, and when they make their next line of cpu's AMD will be blown away, because they can't even pass the 2.0ghz range.

So you're saying you prefer an Intel 1.6 than a Amd 1.6

It's cool, just wanted to know what your thoughts are about our current situation.

Thnx

Oh, no way I'd rather take an AMD at 1.6 than an Intel at 1.6, but the fact is that AMD seems stuck with their CPU's not being able to match the Intel's performance, regardless of their MHZ. Amd has like a 1.8ghz CPU now, but Intel has a 2.4ghz, and Intel wins in performance--especially overclocking :D . Now if AMD could match Intel on the frequency it would be a different story.

Actually AMD beats Intels performance, they just can't beat Intels speed.
A 1.6Mhz AMD VS a 1.6Mhz Intel would result in the AMD kicking its butt. But the AMD tops out in the current design just shy of 2Ghz. Amd has to come out the a new design in order to start really compeating with Intel again.

I thought that an XP2200+ performed slower than a P4 2.4ghz or whatever they call that. Or what do you mean by that?

Speed and Performance are 2 different areas. Further the 2.5AGhz P4 is the top model right now.

Pit a XP2200+ against a P4 1.8Ghz and you get more comparitive results from a performance perspective.
Your pitting the processors against each other when they are in different classes.

ALso the P4 uses a Quad-pumped FSB. The older P4 ran at 100Mhz FSB internally, and the new one runs at 133Mhz.
The XP also runs at 133FSB internally but is also dual-pumped (by all respects anyways - not exactly the same technology at work though) to 266Mhz FSB. If you could quad-pump the FSB on an XP processor, you'd see some serious sh*t.
