Greenpeace Co-Founder:

CO2: Good
MMGW: Hoax

Quote:
1. The concentration of CO2 in the global atmosphere is lower today, even including human emissions, than it has been during most of the existence of life on Earth.

2. The global climate has been much warmer than it is today during most of the existence of life on Earth. Today we are in an interglacial period of the Pleistocene Ice Age that began 2.5 million years ago and has not ended.

3. There was an Ice Age 450 million years ago when CO2 was about 10 times higher than it is today.

4. Humans evolved in the tropics near the equator. We are a tropical species and can only survive in colder climates due to fire, clothing and shelter.

5. CO2 is the most important food for all life on earth. All green plants use CO2 to produce the sugars that provide energy for their growth and our growth. Without CO2 in the atmosphere carbon-based life could never have evolved.

6. The optimum CO2 level for most plants is about 1600 parts per million, four times higher than the level today. This is why greenhouse growers purposely inject the CO2-rich exhaust from their gas and wood-fired heaters into the greenhouse, resulting in a 40-80 per cent increase in growth.

7. If human emissions of CO2 do end up causing significant warming (which is not certain) it may be possible to grow food crops in northern Canada and Russia, vast areas that are now too cold for agriculture.

8. Whether increased CO2 levels cause significant warming or not, the increased CO2 levels themselves will result in considerable increases in the growth rate of plants, including our food crops and forests.

9. There has been no further global warming for nearly 18 years during which time about 25 per cent of all the CO2 ever emitted by humans has been added to the atmosphere. How long will it remain flat and will it next go up or back down? Now we are out of the realm of facts and back into the game of predictions.

The scandal of fiddled global warming data
The US has actually been cooling since the Thirties, the hottest decade on record

...But now another damning example has been uncovered by Steven Goddard’s US blog Real Science, showing how shamelessly manipulated has been one of the world’s most influential climate records, the graph of US surface temperature records published by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Goddard shows how, in recent years, NOAA’s US Historical Climatology Network (USHCN) has been “adjusting” its record by replacing real temperatures with data “fabricated” by computer models. The effect of this has been to downgrade earlier temperatures and to exaggerate those from recent decades, to give the impression that the Earth has been warming up much more than is justified by the actual data....

like I asked, what happens when you close your hand with an ice cube in it?

i'll go on, the coldness moves to other parts of your hand, making them colder for a bit, until the ice is gone, then everything heats back up...
which is what is going on with the earth, and there is a natural cycle to it, I agree. but deforestation and the added pollution and toxins of burning fossil fuels and other things have whacked that natural cycle, and who knows where it'll head us?!!!
some don't care cause they'll be dead, they think, by the time it becomes unbearable on this planet. some are banking on we keep our steady course to destruction.

from comments...
"I really think we should not put any reports out for at least 5 years;
Let the oil and gas and coal companies do what ever they want.
We are fighting Greed and ignorance and nothing will happen until it's to late in any case.
There is to much money against the truth, then we have people that think the wealthy are smart and they follow along. Like the Jim Jones patrons that drank the cool aid.
I truly believe in evolution; but it's hard to make your case when you have a Fox Bundy standing next to you.
The only thing at my age is what we leave behind won't be good, this I'm truly sorry for.
But the GOP is entrenched with the oil Companies and will never budge on it's position . So if your 45 and younger this is your world and I don't think your grandchildren are going to like you very much. When you had a chance to make it good and did nothing but act Stupid. "

Forests and grassy plains are the "lungs" of our world. Excessive deforestation and structure building (and parking lots!) is one primary cause of our "greenhouse" problem. The other is excess use of fossil fuels.
Indeed, our "third rock from the Sun" has undergone thousands of years of heating/cooling cycles. But eventually, there is an Edenistic century or two before the next extreme is prevalent.
We are our own worst enemies in this process.
And indeed, there are too many "accurate" reports and findings about the weather patterns and history. Too much of the "make it believable, even if not" syndrome.
With our modern age of satellites monitoring Earth's weather, we are more informed and alerted to catastrophic storms. But there are "too many cooks" in the program, each having different views on the probability of events.

NOAA Reinstates July 1936 As The Hottest Month On Record

...You can’t get any clearer proof of NOAA adjusting past temperatures,” Watts wrote. “This isn’t just some issue with gridding, or anomalies, or method, it is about NOAA not being able to present historical climate information of the United States accurately....
