i have a 80gb western digital hard drive althought i just have a few months with it , its great. western digital right now is at the top of the line making hard drive and they have proven it during these years....im planning to buy the 10000rpm SATA hard drive which is a A+ in the hard drive industry....

Buy western digital...anything else means problem.

Very happy (performance, quiet, quality) with my new Maxtor S-ATA drive so far.

I have a 40 gig WD and a 30 Maxtor. I like the Maxtor best only because it is quieter.

My Maxtors at home do me just fine.... :D

Had one he11 of a bad time with a WD RMA at work...

But that's more of a customer service issue than hardware, that being said

I tip my hat to Maxtor over WD.

I choose Western Digital as you can see from my signature. It's fast, reliable and really durable. It copies files very fast unless you compress the drive to FAT32. And I've been using this drive for 2.5 yrs without any problems with it. WD rulezz

Quiet drive: Seagate Barracuda IV. Trouble is finding them...

As for quality: WD and Maxtor seem to have their act together. Stay away from the WD Protege series however. They spell trouble.
