I've been having the same problem every day. I can't access the forums between the hours of 12:15 A.M. CST and 1:30 A.M. CST :?:

Is the site down for maintanence during that time?

Yeah, took me long enough. I've been a member for over 3 years and just now hit 1,000.

I have run into a couple of Critical Errors within the past couple of days, but not on a regular basis.

as far as maintanence, the last scheduled maintainence I know of was a while back when the server swap happened. Usually something big MoboCop will post something about it in advance.

but critical errors are more related to the database server getting reset because it gets overloaded or something like that.

I've run into the same problem. I'll have to email MoboCop and see what he has to say about it.

Just a q to you toby - do people browsing the front page count as guests in the who is online box, and if so, how is the server being overloaded by 500 max?

Anyone registered user or not is recognized as a person online. I know for a fact when doing mobocop cases evasive and myself have several pages open at one time and I am sure that we are not the only ones.

Not too sure of the time difference but I'm getting the same problems around 07:00 GMT. It seems to clear around 07:30 GMT, but for about 15 minutes after that I get random critical database errors. Then its fine all day :)
