Have to keep logging in

Postby Ripshod » Sat Dec 05, 2009 2:59 pm

I keep having to log in. It first started happening with Safari so I went back to using IE8 (8.0.6001.18828). Same thing. It doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen at the most inconvenient times, such as after typing up a post, having to log in after and losing the entire post I'd just written. Cookies are enabled for motherboards.org and I've tried clearing all the cookies, deleting the history, you know, the usual advice. Any ideas?

Could be a problem with the servers at your ISP location. They may be doing maintenance or testing, and IP links don't take much to be lost.
Does it happen only to one site, or several? Some ISP setups use a few 'doglegs' to complete a Web path.. and the longer or more interfaces, the more chance of a break. You could try a Ping Trace to see what the true path is.

To be honest I don't know. I'll troll round a few of the old forums see what happens. No third party filtering, no malware detected (doesn't mean there isn't any, right?)

Pinging just times out, maybe a clue there.

This is my third attempt at posting.

Okay, the problem is network related, nothing to do with the forums. Happened again while I was typing this. Did a trace ping, went no further than 172.16.199.250
