A lot of brand names for motherboards have "fallen through the cracks".. and won't be heard of again!
Found this site that lists many popular brand names.. with links to their sources.. www.aselabs.com/articles.php?id=16
This link www.opentechsupport.net/forums/archive/ ... 383-1.html may also provide some help with motherboard sources (Guess their home page, first!! :D )
And this site has listings for many mobo brands and drivers/info, past and present.. www.motherboard.cz/driver/mbdriver.htm

Don't forget our MOBOKIVE listings!

Those live URL links you had in your post are considered as possible malware and were deleted. You are warned once, next time banned.
As to the 486 type CPU class, there are several socket versions.. #1 through #7 and 'super' 7 versions. Not all types of CPU will fit all socket versions. The earlier socket types will accept only the +5 volt core, SX or DX CPU up to 66 MHz. Later socket versions will accept all 486 CPU types, up to the 133 MHz with a 3.3 volt core. And yes, there were different contact pin hole counts.

Hi zimou, it looks like Karl misread your posting.

The problem with socket 478 processors is that several generations/production processes have past on that socket. So, no, you need to go deeper than just the socket. Now if you could simply specify brand/model of the board without any website URL's we will check and verify what can be used in there.

 Sorry, was a misread of "486" for some reason. You "be that way" when only half-awake!
There were three general classes for the 478 CPU. Final FSB of 400 MHz, 533 MHz, and 800 MHz. Some boards had only the lower FSB speeds, others the upper FSB speeds. You have to match the CPU speed with what the board provides.
Also, there is a restriction of CPU type employed.. Celeron, Northwood, or Prescott. Some board designs only allowed the Celeron or Northwood, but not the Prescott.
Most board designs were auto-set by extra pins on the CPU, no jumpers on the board.
