The one defining factor for me is: PS2 has Gran Turismo 3. Period. I don't think there has been another game created that can touch the totality of that franchise. Sure some titles have slightly better graphics, but those have pretty much used thier entire resources just to achieve that, leaving no room for more than 20 cars, 10 tracks, arcade style play only, and zero replayability.

With the PS2 coming down to $200 and GT3 a $20 greatest hits...I think I'm gonna be off the net for quite some time when I finally get to pick one up. Renting sucks!

Supposedly the GameCube is the best selling console? I don't believe it and dislike all of Nintendo's consoles, but maybe this is actually going to be good? I'd much rather get a Sony PS2 because Sony always gets tons of games released on their consoles and GTA3 and GT3 are the best!

I have taken it off the shelf and cleaned it off lately, yes. If my PSX worked I would rather be using that. What I hate about my aging n64 is that it only works right one out of 10 times, so I spend a minute or so just getting the damn thing to play goldeneye.

I love my PS2... I mean my kids PS2. It plays games, CDs, and DVDs. It does not always have the best DVD performance, but it saves me from having to buy one for my kids to use. I wish they had lowered the price before Christmas though. $100 could have bought a couple extra games.

PS2 all the way. Gran Turismo rated 9.4 (9.2 by users) by gamespot. Project Gotham gets 8.1 (8.6 by users). Both good games, but Playstation 2 rocks.

Most good games of the future will be out on all platforms. If you look at proprietary titles, I've thoroughly enjoyed Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo 3, and Hot Shots Golf 3!

If you want a Nvidia graphics on an intel processesor from Microsoft, don't you already have one you are using right now?

But seriously, both are cool systems. I don't know much about the Gamecube, but it looks like it's not as technically advanced and/or is for a much younger audience.
