i have been given a mobo with an amd processor . on the mobo it is clerly marked K7T266 PRO VER 2.0 . on the top right it has a merking with the following 6380-20c . the board is by msi .on the startup screen i get the following

A6380VMS V3.4 013102

ATHLON AMD 1150 MHZ


the fsb is set to 100(200)mhz with current speed 1150 mhz

i installed the msi infoview xp utility and it gives me also the above info .

i set the fsb to 133mhz and on the startup screen i get the following

AMD ATHLON XP 1800+

In the msi infoview xp utility it tells me that the external clock is 133(266) mhz and the current speed is 1533mhz . i know that this board supports both 100 and 133 ( 200 and 266 ) fsb's but which one would be the default :?: and would the processor speed be 1150 mhz :?: and it goes up to 1800 once overclocked :?: i just want to know the processor speed without actually having to remove the processor . this is my first go at amd so please bear with me . i hope i havent made it confusing :wink:

you've got an amd xp1800+ in there, the default fsb should be 133. those are the correct settings, 100 fsb would be underclocking the chip. 1533mhz is the processor speed at 133 fsb.

AMD Opteron™ Processor Specifications

The operating specifications of an AMD Opteron™ processor can be determined by the processor's Ordering Part Number (OPN), which is located on the processor. Valid OPN examples for AMD Opteron processors are included below, as well as a brief chart that details how to read an OPN. For additional information, see the processor's technical documents, which can be downloaded from the Technical Documents page for the AMD Opteron Processor.

Note: The operating temperature of a processor is highly dependent on the induced workload, ambient temperature, and the efficiency of the cooling sub-system. However, the operating temperature should never exceed the processor's specified maximum operating temperature rating. For optimal performance, use a heatsink solution evaluated and recommended by AMD. A list of these recommended solutions is available on AMD's Thermal Solutions pages for the AMD Opteron processor.

ALL Athlon XP-M's have either a 100MHz or 133MHz FSB - the parts you mentioned(2400-3000) all have a 133MHz FSB.

Clockspeeds:
AXP-M 2400+(Model 10) -> 1.80GHz(133x13.5)
AXP-M 2400+(Model 8) -> 2.00GHz(133x15.0)
AXP-M 2500+(Model 10 only) -> 1.86GHz(133x14.0)
AXP-M 2600+(Model 10) -> 2.00GHz(133x15.0)
AXP-M 2600+(Model 8) -> 2.13GHz(133x16.0)
AXP-M 2800+(Model 10 only) -> 2.13GHz(133x16.0)
AXP-M 3000+(Model 10 only) -> 2.20GHz(133x16.5)
