How to cure these ZIP files?

Postby collins » Wed Dec 09, 2015 11:43 am

We've had complaints about corrupt zipped files on our website. I was able to repair one but the other is a collection of files that sometimes gives an error about split or spanned files.
Any suggestions?

Welcome to Motherboards org.
Some compressed (zipped) files are not created per the standard rule. You may need the original program that did the compression to restore them, then use a 'standard' program to redo. There is a size limit on files. Maybe too large for access or transfer?

A compressed file (.zip, .rar, etc.) can only be repaired if all the information that is compressed still exist, beyond that the must U can get is save all the good files inside the compressed one.

use the option of "keep broken files" to have all of the files that were uncompressed

It's possible your webhoster is having a filesize limit set, whatever you upload bigger will be corrupted. If that is not the case then I think you need to teach the users that they have to download all parts of that split archive zip file.
