Data Recovery Recommendation

Postby dve83 » Fri Mar 26, 2010 11:08 am

Hi all,

just thought I'd share. Some might remember me reporting my bad Western Digital Portable Hdd. Well, I came across the following and it seems to be doing pretty well for a Data Recovery tool.

Roadkil's Unstoppable Copier

It seems as though it just tries to copy Byte for Byte - what ever it can - no matter what conditions it's in. Some files are still OK with 100% integrity whilst others are rated anything between 17% - 100%. All basic documents liek Powerpoint, MSword, Excel etc etc. (even those rated at low 17% integrity %) seem to come out perfectly (sometimes some of the images are corrupted - yeah JPEGS dont fare that well with recovery). Im not sure what Binaries will behave like after recovery- in fact I dont have much hope for them. But I must say every other piece of software simply stalled on trying to read from the drive - but this little piece of software (free of charge as well), is really doing the trick.

just thought Id share.
