I have been looking at the GIGABYTE Geforce 6600GT GV-NX66T128D-SP(also a heatsink card) at newegg . . . http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814125015
Performance -wise how would this XFX 7600GS compare to the GIGABYTE Geforce 6600GT?
The GIGABYTE Geforce 6600GT is 128Mb vram with 8 pipes and the XFX is 256Mb vram with 12 pipes; both are 128 bit. However the XFX 7600GS is overclocked, has 256 vram, and 12 pipes so wouldn't you have to assume that the performance of the XFX 7600GS should be as good or better than the Geforce 6600GT? The newer XFX 7600GS is $44 more than the GIGABYTE Geforce 6600GT at newegg.
Also they recommend a 350W PS for the GIGABYTE Geforce 6600GT while only a 300W for the XFX 7600GS so the XFX should theoretically run cooler as well. And the GIGABYTE Geforce 6600GT heatsink design extends to the adjacent PCI slot so you do loose the PCI slot that is next to the PCIe card; no big deal for me.
Bottom line though is does the XFX 7600GS perform as good or better than the GIGABYTE Geforce 6600GT?
Any thoughts on this . . . ?

7600GS is much higher performing than the 6600GT.
Temps? Author: Seer
What were the temps like? Also, could you describe the ventilation of your case? I heard that the MSI 7600 GS ran very hot (90C), and that one wasn't even OCed. I would really appreciate it!
(Also, you should include it in your review next time!)

Can't describe the card as hot, not 90C that is

Good suggestion on temperatures I'll incorporate it thanks.
We use a water cooled system for video card testing ambient temperatures aren't very hot.

So you can't describe stock temps because you watercool it? Sorry if you said so here:
"Can't describe the card as hot, not 90C that is"
That was a bit ambiguous, so I didn't quite get what you were saying (not specific enough)

err, the 7600GS is passively cooled. The highest temperatures I recorded was about 70C~. 100% stable running Oblivion and F.E.A.R for hours...

Does anybody know it the 7600GT will perform better in games than the 6800GS? Do you know if a comparison between these two has already been made?
THX,
zachig.
