The lowest latency I saw in there was 3-2-2-8, but surely that cant be considered low :?

Im looking for 2-x-x-x or 2.5-x-x-x

CAS 3 is the lowest CAS latency for DDR2. if you can find me a motherboard that allows CAS 2 for DDR2, i'll buy it

Precisely her gripe. She's saying she's unimpressed with DDR2.

Well, silicon can only work so fast, as Intel is finding out with their clock ceiling around 3.8ghz. DDR2 may be somewhat faster, but I hardly find it worth trading in all my equipment for. DDR500 is more than fast enough on its own, and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to get a gig's worth.

hmmm. maybe you missed the conclusion where it says that the amp-x pc2-5400 can be had for under $200. i dont think you can find high performance ddr for under $200. anything tccd based runs for over $200

TCCD chips aren't the only high performace ones out there. Geil's own chips give TCCD a run for their money. Got my gig of PC4000 for Geil for $190 over a year ago. Still brings up if my 3.6ghz Northwood and PC4000 are already this fast, what justification is DDR2 when you have to replace your CPU, motherboard, and memory? Seems somewhat less cost efficient to me.

If you are just getting a computer or want the latest Intel has to offer DDR2 comes into play and as far as just upgrading to it if you have a strong 478 system, that is probably a bit pricey and unrealistic..
