anybody else really liking this case?
It seems like a hate it or love it kinda thing to me, but I think it's really kinda nice looking. Good write up. One thing I am curious about is how the front semi-door things work. Do they lock into place? Are they spring loaded?

I just saw that they have it in black too... very nice!
Spendy though eh?

Great review. :) After reading it, I have a few questions.

First, is the motherboard tray removable? NO

Second, are the drive bays hidden under face plates? In other words, would I notice if I put a white DVD burner in one of the bays? NO EACH BAY HAS A REMOVABLE FACE PATE
.
Sorry if the answers were actually in the review and I didn't find them.

Good points Gasparin I am going to add to my review.

The Armor can use any type of motherboard as it supports the entire form factor series currently available. These include the Micro ATX, ATX, Extended ATX and of course the new BTX standard. The units total overall size is 530 x 220 x 560 mm (H*W*D) and empty it has a weight of 7.5Kg, which is very light indeed. The motherboard tray is not removable like many people seem to like, but the openness of the chassis interior leaves plenty of room for installing and removing your motherboard anyways so it should not ever become a problem. The case also comes in black for those who want something different from the plain-brushed aluminum look.

Interesting, I did a little looking into this, because I really like the look of the black one. It seems the black only comes in steel, making it much heavier than the silver

Would this case be able to accomodate a 3 x 120mm radiator in the front drive bay area?

I'm looking at this case for just that purpose and I'm interested in putting something like a Thermochill 120.3 in there.

It's size is 419x126x50mm (HxWxD).

I believe it would.. the front panel can be modded if it needed to be.
why it was a poor review Author: dsrs

i don't pretend to be a computer expert.
that is why i looked for reviews before buying the thermaltake armor.

i AM a professional journalist. i know what fact checking is. and i know what IMPARTIAL means.

lmao when doc says he called thermaltake <as if> he were a customer!

a reviewer should be neutral, not a quasi-employee of a company, or one who gets FREE STUFF. i know plenty of journalists, so-called, who take freebies and write glowing reviews.

i did not say i did not get a manual. i got one. but it had NO PHONE NUMBERS. every other company i bought stuff from provided phone support numbers.

this is mark one against thermaltake.

i don't give a flying how many times x,y or z phoned them and got through. i emailed them [now] FIVE times and still two weeks later have not had a single reply. AND i emailed their europe support and hq in taiwan or wherever.

i accept that inthe usa you might have had better support. that is not my point.

mark two against thermaltake for non reply.

as for the case having nothing to do with the processor. boy you are a dummy and should not be allowed to write for a computer mag!!!

i would have said the same, but i am a dummy and do not write up my ignorance in reviews. but when i called antec to order a case and told them i was using a pentium 4 630, they educated me into TAC chassis.

fyi, intel has pages explaining why you CANNOT put a prescott chip into anything but a TAC chassis. not to mention that you need an ATX v2.0 or v2.1 case for a prescott chip [because otherwise the rail voltage required and the 24pin plug for the mobo a prescott requires are not supported]

i did not know this, but it scares me that you do not. just like your WRONG comment that alu cases dissipate heat better than steel....i would have believed that too, until i read on several web sites [case manufacturers] that this is a total, stupid myth repeated only by the uneducated [like me]

the fact remains. on thermaltake's support pages you cannot find ANY downloadable manual for the armor. as i said, searching the 155 docs there will prove NO REFERENCE WHATSOEVER to armor even existing as one of their products.

this is mark three against thermaltake

as for the floppy cage. i bloody KNOW you took it out. i have seen photos of it out. the whole reason i wanted to contact thermaltake is that the cage in the case i actually received will NOT [so far as i can figure it] come out.

i just wanted some basic help.

maybe they changed the design or something. i don't know and I CANNOT FIND OUT

what possible excuse, even for somebody getting free gear, is there for a company which does not respond to a simple request by email in two weeks? other postings show i am NOT the only one who has this problem. and i don't think i should have to know somebody personally in the company to get a simple answer.

finally, a tip to a journalist: when somebody asks 'how loud' it is comical to reply with subjective comments. that's why they invented decibels and measuring devices.

Doc Writes:: Where are you from man as I am talking about the USA branch of Thermaltake,, not Europe Taiwan or otherwise,,,are you in a different country perhaps??
