yes. the speakers work right as soon as i hook them up to my mp3 player. they are on. all connections are go. nothing is muted. all is cranked to the highest. even the mic. speakers are set to 2 channel. I didn't quite understand what you meant by In properties (sound) an output device is displayed....

Looks like I'm going to be playing this game again tonight, since I don't have a sound card to play America's Army... Oh well this one is more fun anyways. Without sound even.

Well, my onboard sound card is bad. So, to replace it I don't want to get some cheap ass 16-bit sound card. I'm looking in to the Audigy 2's and was wondering what is the huge freaking difference between the 200 dollar one and the 50 dollar value card? Are the expensive ones meant for Audio Recordin...

Well when you open a folder, explorer is used. It just isn't used to make the start menu and all that. And you can easily switch from Aston to Explorer with a few clicks and back again, without logging off or restarting the computer. I like it because I don't have to fear explorer crashes.

Yep. I forgot to say that. I set up the Input, Output, and Mic Input to be for a 5.1 speaker set, so all three ports were used for output to front/rear/center and none of them sent any output to my speakers (I put two headphone sets and my speakers in each one and none made any sound).

Yes I checked that already. The jumpers are on the correct pins to disable front panel/enable rear outputs.

No, just onboard Realtek AC'97.
