Re: I am pulling out my hair with computer crashes

try a different sata port, as well as different cables. I actually had major issues with similar BSODs and swapped to different (not dirt-cheap) cables and it fixed it... similarly with the ports, at the time my drives would not work on #5 or #6 - but worked perfectly on #1-4. I only wanted to use 5...

Re: I am pulling out my hair with computer crashes

where is it getting hung up on chkdsk? have you left it running for a considerable length of time, like overnight(seriously, this happens)?

if you haven't successfully completed a chkdsk then I'm willing to bet you're problems are bad drive areas - which can lead to all sorts of fun BSODs.

Re: I am pulling out my hair with computer crashes

That non-paged area error typically (at least in my experience) relates to bad hard drive areas. you mentioned you replaced your drives, but said you retained your cache drive? make sure you've run chkdsk on all drives - after each make sure to recheck system files using sfc /scannow. do you have yo...

Re: Increase output voltage for laptop power adapter.

I've used multiple power supplies which provided different amperage, but always had matched voltage outputs. higher amps provide more power, so charge a battery faster. there's risk in doing so that the battery components are not rated or designed to handle increased power loads, and could cause dam...

Re: Increase output voltage for laptop power adapter.

I think you're trying to do something that may end up not being safe. If I understand correctly, you have a laptop that accepts a power supply provided at 19.5v. You have a power supply which supplies power at a lower voltage than 19.5 (let's presume 12v)...and want to get it to 19.5v so as to match...

Re: Can Any DDR2 Intel Desktop Motherboards be Overclocked?

my understanding is that the D945GNT boards really aren't designed for overclocking - I think most of the types of settings used for overclocking are locked in the BIOS. I don't believe you can alter the board voltages(1.8v) - which can significantly limit your options. getting the highest clocked m...

Re: Can Any DDR2 Intel Desktop Motherboards be Overclocked?

"any" is a little vague...

in theory, sure every board can be. the trick is whether it's really supported and if the board is designed to handle it.

do you have a board you're trying to use with the memory?

Re: Video/Audio upgrade recomendations for this system

I'd agree a 1060 or 1070 would make a massive improvement.

Jumping from a 660ti to my current 1070 was an amazing boost in performance.

I've been running Corsair and EVGA's for nearly a decade now with not a single problem. (*knocks on wood)

Re: Help improving my WiFi signal.

To me, it sounds more like a problem with the tablet. If all these other devices are working well on the network, and only a single one is struggling...the most likely problem is the single device. Do you have a phone that does the same thing? Can the tablet work without issue at other wifi location...
