to add to karl post and to clear up a confusion with Europe power supply were 230 volts are used. if you have a 2 pin system . the pins are one is a 230v live or hot and pin 2 is a Neutral plus Earth. ...

Just when you all thought it was safe ,Im back

The Voltage outpt for the ac power supply for that laptop should read 19V DC, so the laptop will not switch on with a 9v supply as the laptop is reading it as a fault, its time to buy a new ac adptor.

as the box states it a dual CPU board maybe it will be running between 8 to 12 cores?????

There is a vista restore disk that has a few extra options and one is a password unlocker, perhaps there is a site around that has it for download.

or a freind with vista on there computer
