Frankenstein - Recommendations for a piecing together mostly obsolete system parts
Thoughts, suggestions, no money. TIA! 3 computers and only need one, but don't have budget to upgrade just yet and targeting later this year to build a dedicated gaming system. Needs - Home PC, light 1080P gaming, Plex server (literally just to manage storage and I don't transcode and use Apple TVs ...

Re: Budget gaming rig for son. . .Suggestions
. . .honestly, I'd reconsider not getting an SSD - I think they're almost a must-have for any new builds, and really are very reasonable in price. it's not uncommon to see 256gb drives dip below $100, and 128's even under $50 sometimes. if large storage is needed - sure, get a spinner - but in term...

Budget gaming rig for son. . .Suggestions
First, I noticed my signature is like 6-8 years old I think. . .please ignore. Haven't been on in a while. QUESTION What is a good CPU, MB, Video card combo for under $500 for a budget gaming PC? BACKGROUND In January 2012, I built my son (10 at the time) a budget PC (~$400 total) so he could play M...

Ended up going with an AMD A4-3400 Llano. Was able to keep the costs under $400. System is built, and have upgrade path with graphics card (running off A4 chip for now), as well as motherboard will take 16GB. Thank you.

Low End PC Build or buy?
My son's PC bit the dust last night. It was slimline Dell that was over 5 years old (impressed it lasted that long). Rather than invest any time or money in trying to figure out what occurred (power, but no screen, and no post. . .), going to either build a replacement or buy. Have not built a compu...

Where else. . . http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16856101016 OOS I am giving up for the next 30-60 days, but will spend time watching the AMD vs. Intel / ATI vs. Nvidia / my mobo manufacturer's butt smells better than yours debate. . . I have spent way too much time reviewing all o...

DVI KVM Switches. . .good ones?
Purchased 22" Spectre with a native 1680x1050 resolution. Have a Startech KVM now with PS2, audio and VGA that works great in analog. I want to move to DVI based USB and Sound KVM. The only two that I have found with decent reviews for under $200 street are: Avocent Switchview Dvi 2 Port USB KV...
