bummer man! but yeah i too understand. it's no secret that i too have a much [much] lesser output then ever before. times are tough.

webster, i just tried the same thing as you to see what my system would do. it DOES hang the system BUT.... it frees up after a minute or two of a hard lock [up no mouse or anything]. at least that's what mine did.

i'm running office 2003 suite w/ one graphical and one console running.

MaximumPC did a huge study on this. and found that running 2 clients per HT'd cpu actually does provide better performace.

the only thing that stinks about rechargables is the .3 voltage drop that's inharated. alk's are 1.5 as rechargables are 1.2 :x

that's why the RC guys use 5cell rechargable packs to get the same voltages as 4 alks

and you did have a power surge supressing strip outlet for the pc? this is a MUST. guys run UPS's!!! :roll: APC's [imo] are the best while tripplite makes a decent line of them too. get a 700 smart ups and call it a day! sorry to hear about your power outage though. i hope your gig checks out fine!
