yep.. a lot of stuff to go searching thru.. best way to clean all that ? format c : :lol: and yep.. adaware and spybot first then hijackthis.. and yep.. evasive could be right as that isn't the correct location for that svchost.. there are a few viruses that will mimic that "correct looking" process...

it's the "BMW-R motherboard (OEM version of the Mitac 6513WU motherboard)" according to Toby B and this thread.

you didn't say what OS you needed drivers for but you can look at Toby's LORS pages to search for drivers.. Or if you can't find them there, then look at this thread.

with most firewalls you can set a rule to allow for an app to access the net.

if you want to turn it off, you should be able to kill the associated processes via task manager.

steel.. you tried that F.I.R.E distro ? I had heard miraculous things about it.
There are a number of professional recovery apps but it'll be a matter of money and it'll be your decision on how much this data is worth to you.

I must of posted this here a few times already but once more can't hurt. try "restoration" http://www3.telus.net/mikebike/RESTORATION.html It'll run off of a floppy.. just two dll's and the executable needed. (dll's not needed for NT/2000/xp) Also has a "secure" delete function. Run's on Windows 95/...

being that it's a fairly new build of xp.. I'm not sure hijckthis will help all that much unless you did get a virus or a trojan.. in which case, your AV and a trojan scanner should be run as well as spyware removers like adaware and spybot before running hijackthis.
