The only time you will get sound through the CD drive headphone jack is when you are playing an Audio CD. Otherwise, *.cda files, not MP3 or wav files. Look on the main chip for a name and/or number. The serial number comes up with nothing. You might find an FCC ID number printed on the circuit board too.

Didn't think about the temp. I did pull the Zalman heatpipe off a few weeks ago. I used the dremel on the original HSF so that it made contact with the core and I used AS3 on it.
