Core i7 build

My last system build was more than 5 years ago so I am little rusty. My new build will be used by me for ripping DVD's and Photoshop and by my teenager for gaming. Please take a look at this build. My main questions are: Is this good memory, Case, Power supply. The prices are from Newegg. CPU: Core ...

Video Card for Older System

Currently I have a ASUS A7V333, a AMD Athlon XP 2200+, a GAIDWARD Geforce4 TI4600 and a 400 watt power supply. The card will not run some fo the newer games like Hitman. I was looking at the ATI Radeon X1950PRO for AGP but I am not sure these would even run on my system. I am planning on building a ...

I primarily use it as a gaming machine. It runs Halflife 2, Halo 1 and Unreal 2005 just fine for me. However I like to tinker and I have not done anything to it for over 12 months. My only compliant with the machine is the noise. I do have the Thermaltake (sp) cooler (I am not at home and can't look...

What to do with my Asus A7V333

I have the Asus A7V333 with an Athlon XP 1800+. I am assuming my board is Rev 1.01 but I am not sure how to check. I am happy with my machine but would like it if I could get it to run cooler and so slow down the fan and get it quieter. Would it be worth putting a Athlon XP 2600+(266FSB)(Model 8)(Th...

Jack I am pretty sure I am not slaved to a MAC address. They removed that requirement a while ago. All the PC's I hook up get an IP address from Comcast. And before I had problems I connected via a router. Ajrox, I don't think it is my modem as I have tried three different modems. All of them show t...

Cable Connection Problems

I have Comcast in the Chicagoland area and I can't connect anymore. About two weekends ago the connection came up and down on the weekend. Now when I turn on my PC I am assigned a TCP/IP address by comcast but I cannot ping anything. If I do do a ipconfig /release and /renew the renew fails. I am no...

Just to reiterate what RP_OLIE said, if you haven't udated the BIOS do that first. The first few BIOS for this board had problems with the temp. readings.

After that RMA the board if you are still having problems.

before I resoldered I would experiment with the ram. Are all your RAM slots full. If not move the sticks around and see what happens. If you have access to another PC try the RAM there. If you only damaged one slot you can always avoid it.

I am not sure if you mentioned your operating system. If it is XP then turn off Indexing and Automatic Updates. This can make things choppy.
