After downloading a driver upgrade, complete the following steps to extract the files from the
driver archive:
- Create a temporary directory on your hard disk.
- Download or copy the self-extracting archive into that directory. Some drivers have a set of
two or more self-extracting archives. Save each archive in a separate temporary directory.
Repeat steps 3 through 6 for each archive.
- Run the self-extracting archive. This will extract a Software License Agreement, an
informational txt file(s), and a second self-extracting archive (represented by ARCHIVE in the
remainder of these instructions).
- After reading the License agreement and the informational txt file(s) follow any directions
before running the second self-extracting archive.
- Run the ARCHIVE with the following command to maintain the file and subdirectory structure
within the temporary directory on your hard disk (i.e. ARCHIVE -D).
The archive (sw.exe) may be run from the Windows Start/Run windows. When extracting the files in
this manner, you will still need to add the command extention "-d". This can be done after
browsing to the archive file; add a space, followed by "-d" to the command line. This will
preserve the directory structure of the driver files, which in some cases is necessary for
correct installation.
- Review all informational text files (README.TXT and DESC.TXT) before proceeding.
