PC manufacturers were thrown off by Windows 8 and its new touch-friendly face, which has given the PC industry what it needed to bring the PC forward into the mobile device space. The PC’s long term success hinges on its ability to evolve, both in form factor and functionality. Boxes have largely given way to all-in-ones, laptops to Ultrabooks, and so on. Innovation often equals experimentation, and so PC makers have been throwing various PC designs against the wall to see what will stick. There's no question the tablet is the next evolution, but the PC is having a hard time finding a... more.

As a PC builder, it's refreshing to see a wide variety in enthusiast desktop cases. For a long while it seemed like case makers used the term "enthusiast" and "gamer" interchangeably, and believed every gamer wants a case loaded with great features, but with neon lights, aggressive designs, and wild colors. Everyone else wanted a plain box. There's certainly a market for extreme designs, but there's also a large crowd who appreciate a well made, understated, case with clean styling and all those great features that make building a PC enjoyable.Fractal Design is a Sweden-based company that... more.

Irrational Games' latest installment in the Bioshock series sees you lifted from the murky utopia of Rapture into the Eden of Colombia, a floating city in the sky. You play as Booker DeWitt,  a former Pinkerton agent sent to Colombia to track down a women by the name of Elizabeth and bring her to New York to pay off a debt. Infinite is just as much (if not more) a game about story as it is action. I have taken particular care to avoid major spoilers, but proceed at your own risk.Like the original Bioshock, Infinite is visually stunning and gorgeous to look at. The switch from a dark and... more.

Some people listen to a local AM or FM radio station, while others use some electronic device to bring their digital music or podcast library with them on the go. If you’re the former, Automatica isn’t for you. If you’re the latter, like me, Automatica is positioned to help you get music into your car by leveraging the cloud. The premise is simple - park your car in the garage and Automatica goes to work, downloading updates to your favorite podcasts and syncing music files with a cloud storage service like Dropbox. Hop in your car, turn the key, and all your stuff is there and accessible... more.

Rebellion's latest game places you behind enemy lines as a US sniper during the closing days of World War II. Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army is a stand-alone game based on Sniper Elite V2 and its game engine, meaning all that much loved sniper gore in V2 is still here in Nazi Zombie Army.Like you would expect from most zombie games, Nazi Zombie Army lacks in the story department. The basic premise is that in a final effort to stop the third Reich from falling,  Hitler launches 'Plan Z', resulting in dead soldiers being resurrected as zombies as they travel to Berlin. This, of course,... more.

Omerta – City of Gangsters is Haemimont Games next title, hoping to build off of their success with the Tropico series. Tropico was a much loved city builder and political simulator; many gamers had high hopes for their next title.  A few changes have been made from Tropico to Omerta, namely the clock has been wound back to the Prohibition era of 1920-1933 in the USA, and you play as a fresh immigrant starting your own mafia family.By combining turn-based combat with a city building mechanic and allowing you to build and grow your very own criminal empire in Atlantic City, Omerta was... more.

Despite the fact devices like the iPad are rapidly evolving, gaining new features and functions with each generation, they still aren't acceptable PC replacements. Likewise, the typical PC hasn't been as portable and power efficient as a tablet. This has resulted in a marketplace that believes the tablet and notebook are mutually exclusive; with many users opting to carry both a notebook and a tablet. However, portable PC manufacturers are hoping the "tablet as a companion device" isn't what the market wants. Lenovo, Microsoft, and many others believe it can be one device. After all, why can'... more.

We’re taking a look in this article at Fractal Design’s Node 605 HTPC/Media Center computer case. For those less familiar with Fractal Designs' cases, they're "Scandinavian design" approach yields a simple yet striking appearance, clean lines, and minimalistic from a “flashy” perspective. When looking at their product catalog, it’s clear they make products geared towards those who like a understated and sophisticated look, versus those desiring flashy colored lights that can be seen from a few parsecs away. There's nothing wrong with flashy, but Fractal's simpler design principles probably... more.

I've now spent the better part of a week using AOC's latest thin-bezel monitor, the 23" i2367Fh. I've ran every monitor test I can muster, watched movies, and played several different games on it to get a feel for how it performs. No matter how hard I try to admire its good qualities, the overall feeling I've had the entire time is no different than a trip to Burger King or (like the title implies) making my way through Aperture Science.  The SpecsViewable Image Size      23" (16:9)Brightness (typical)         250 cd/... more.

Will NVIDIA ever stop releasing cards and take a breath? So far it seem that is not to be the case as almost every month NVIDIA has had a release of one kind or another, but I think this may actually be the last of this lineup for 2012 making it a herald year for the Big Green company as they have clearly been the dominating force in the gaming industry. AMD is still keeping in the ring for now, but they need some new breath in their lineup, which will not be happening until the 2nd Quarter of 2013.The new 650 Ti is geared for the gamer on a budget that is only in the market for a sub $200.00... more.
