One of the main objectives for a gaming headset is overall comfort. People must be able to wear these for long periods of time to even be considered a great gaming headset. As explained earlier, there are two ear pad cushions: Leather and Velvet. The leather ear pads had a great feel in the beginning but heavily degraded in comfort over time. After 30 minutes, my ears became pretty warm and uncomfortable. On the other hand, the velvet ear pads were even more comfortable in the beginning and did not degrade much at all over time. I could wear the gaming headset for 2-3 hours without having any discomfort at all. Now, let’s analyze the microphone and in-line volume control box that comes with the Shock One gaming headset.

The microphone on the Shock One gaming headset is very poor to say the least. No matter how high the volume of the microphone was, I could barely hear my voice in the microphone configuration and no one could hear me when I was on Skype, Ventrilo and Mumble. It was very disappointing because a gaming headset should at least come with a useable microphone. Tt eSPORTS needs to upgrade the quality of their microphone because it is very disadvantageous for them against other competitors.

It also includes an In-Line Volume Control Box that allows the user to: increase/decrease the volume, mute the headset and microphone, turn on/off Thermaltake icon light and turn on/off hold on the device. The control box is shaped as a small rectangle that you comes with a clip on the rear so that you can clip it to your shirt or belt for easy access.Tt eSPORTS’ GUI software is simple and easy to use. They provide drop down menus for environment and presents that will cater to any type of music you want to listen to. Below the drop down menus is an equalizer that is fully customizable for more advanced users. There is a timer on the bottom right of the GUI that I still have not found a use yet. It also has a DTS Surround Sensation section that allows the user to experience 5.1 DTS surround sound from the gaming headset. This was truly a great idea from Thermaltake to team up with DTS and offer such a great feature in their headset. I will go over in much more detail during the DTS testing. We have already gone over every inch of the Shock One gaming headset, it’s time to test the limits and see the overall performance of these nice looking phones!
