Every once in a blue moon we see the powers that be in the video card world knock out a true contender for the video card king, today that emerging power is AMD with the release of their all new Dual-GPU VGA card, hence dubbed the HD 6990. The 6990 in sum is a pair of 6970 cards embedded on a single piece of silicon geared toward rocking the gaming world and outperforming both its competition from within, and from outside as well. NVIDIA’s current dual GPU card is aged past its prime and the GTX295 is no challenge here, as is the previous generation HD 5970, ATI’s former Dual GPU gaming card.
Sapphire is a leading partner in the AMD platform side of things and it’s no surprise to see them ready on race day with a HD 6990 on deck, and we were lucky enough to get ours in the lab in order to bring this review to you here on launch day. For fans of the Red and Black attack known now as the AMD RADEON line, it’s a day to rejoice and let the bells ring. Let’s dig a bit deeper into this new beast of a card and see why this card is the new hot shot of the VGA gaming world and why those who want the latest and fastest video card will want this for their rig.
