Sapphire Edge HD2 Mini PC Review

Thu, 2011-09-15 19:15 -- Shane N.

I usually would always put down Mini PCs or cheaper, lower end computers because since you are putting in a lot of money for not much performance. However, I’d have to say that this mini PC actually packs a lot of performance. Size doesn’t matter for this guy because it’s smaller than most desktops/towers while performing better than the rest. It comes with an Intel Atom D525 1.8GHz CPU, 2GB DDR3 RAM, 320GB SATA hard drive, nVidia ION2 with 512MB RM, and Windows 7 preinstalled. It also has full HD capability plugging into my TV and 22’’ inch (1920 x 1080) Monitor with ease. There was no lag and great picture quality with either one.

In terms of speeds, this PC boots up in about 42.7 seconds and has a read and write speed of 26.6 MB/sec and 7.17 MB/sec respectively. I really like the speed when it turns on. Of course it’s not as fast as an SSD drive but it’s still pretty fast. And with 320GB of storage, this can definitely be great for using simple applications like Microsoft Office, Adobe, and surfing the web.

Even though Black Friday is around the corner, buying a full tower PC can be expensive for any individual. Buying premade ones at Best Buy or Frys can still start around $200 dollars and building a PC from scratch is becoming a scarce skill these days.
