Performance Boost for GeForce 400 Series

            Blu-ray 3D support

            NVIDIA Surround

            New driver installer

Ever since they released the first NVIDIA Detonator driver, NVIDIA has been releasing driver performance enhancements in stages, the release driver for the new card then later a performance enhancement driver. The Release 260 Forceware drivers bring from 7-29% increases in performance over the last generation driver according to NVIDIA on a GeForce GTX 460.]

Continuing the talk about the 3D revolution, these are the first drivers to support Blu-ray 3D movies which allow the card to play back 3D Blu-ray movies with 3D Vision and a 3D TV.  The GeForce GTS 450 supports Blu-ray 3D, Lossless Surround Sound with DVD playback software from CyberLink, Arcsoft, Roxio or Corel.

The new driver has a new installer to making setting up NVIDIA Surround and 3D Vision much easier. There’s a new User Interface for NVIDIA Surround making setup of multiple (up to 3) monitors a snap. There’s also a new help page giving representations of what resolution the monitors should be set at and what are available. Also available is new bezel correction setup. Finally, you can dedicate a third GPU for PhysX or a 4 monitor setup.

There’s a new driver installer with the release 260 drivers. If you have ever installed an NVIDIA driver in the last 10 years you are met with an InstallShield installer. With the 260 drivers you have the choice of either a one-click express installation or advanced custom installation. Advanced custom installation allows you to choose which driver components to install and perform a clean installation of the drivers by wiping out older drivers.

NVIDIA has hit the budget gaming market with their new GTS 450 series of cards, lets see how the do in SLI!
