The board came in an attractive big black box. There’s a picture of shattered glass with gold shards. The top of the front of the box has the MSI logo and slogan. The middle of the front of the box has the XPower Designed for the Extreme Gamer slogan. The bottom of the box has the CPUs supported, the chipset and the ATI CrossfireX logo.
The back of the box has the main features of the board described with pictures of each component associated with that feature. For example, the DrMOS feature shows a picture of the DrMOS chips and has the description of the features of the board. Opening the front box flap we see a plastic cover over the board and more features on the flap.
The bundle itself is an amazing array of hardware. There are the usual SATA cables, the SATA power cable but the bundle goes far beyond the norm. MSI includes CrossfireX ribbon bridges, SLI ribbon bridges, and V-Check cables to check the voltage, HDD Power converter cables, a USB bracket, the OC Dashboard, and the Quantum Wave audio card.
The Quantum Wave Audio card has all of the audio jacks for the board on the bracket. It is a PCI Express x1 card that will fit into the first slot of the board. The audio CODEC on the board is a Realtek ALC889 that has been used by many motherboard manufacturers over the years. One feature that this board supports is the EAX 5.0 HD functionality. This is achieved through the Creative X-FI MB HD audio software.
