Intel Core i3 2100 Processor Review

Alright review readers; this is where I get to give you the full break-down. As I’ve stated previously, this is a very competitively priced processor. The features are either going to appeal to your needs or they aren’t. It really depends on what you are planning to use it for. If you are the person that needs a dedicated graphics card, then this isn’t really going to be the processor for you. However, if you are just going to be doing some light gaming and watching some High Definition movies, then this might just be the ticket. Personally, I would consider this for a storage or home theater pc. I don’t think the graphics are quite up to handling some of the games that I like to play. And for this reason I use a fairly good dedicated graphics card.

One thing that I really liked about this processor is its performance. I was very surprised to see it being able to compete against processors that cost quite a bit more money. Intel has always tried to stay on the cutting edge of technology, and this processor is proof that they are continuing to do so. I just question whether it makes sense to take the graphics processing unit off the motherboard and integrate it into the processor. It’s my opinion that this would not be the ideal location for such a computationally heavy process to be taking place. I have to admit that there really didn’t seem to be much of a performance hit when using this feature.

When I read a review my main question is would I buy this product for myself from a gamers standpoint? And this is how I am going to conclude this review by explaining why this wouldn’t appeal to me. You may have a different point of view depending on your system needs. I know that I plan on using a product like this for a home theater build or for a backup system. For this I would like to have the ability to still do some gaming. This processor doesn’t really fall into that category. This is more for the type of user that wants to save a few bucks and doesn’t mind the performance hit from using integrated graphics. This isn’t me. I want the option to add a good graphics card to my system so that I can still do some gaming while my main system is down. Now this could still be an option with this product, but that isn’t the consumer that they are aiming this at. I can’t see myself purchasing this and then adding a GTX 560 Ti to it. This is just an example, but I just can’t see the justification for it. You may have a different point of view, but you also have different plans for a product like this. This processor does have its place, that place just isn’t in my gaming system.
