The GIGABYTE board is a full-sized ATX motherboard, which is colored all black for the PCB. This differentiates from previous GIGABYTE boards that have a purple PCB but is in keeping with most of the other P67 boards on the market. This board has all the trademarks of an enthusiast board with a clean layout and excellent components.
The 8-pin power connector is located on the upper right hand corner of the board. The CPU Socket area is clear of obstacles. GIGABYTE has placed a heatsink over the MOSFETs with a heatpipe leading to the NF200 chip and the P67 Express Platform Controller Hub. There are 24 Phases on the board grouped in two groups of 12. There is plenty of room for cooling around the CPU socket.
Below the CPU Socket are two banks of two DIMM Sockets each. This board can take up to 32GB of DDR3 memory. As the memory controller is now on the CPU the memory supported without overclocking is up to 1600MHz (on the higher end Sandy Bridge CPUs). The bottom of the board starts off with a 24-pin power connector. Eight SATA ports are next which consist of four SATA 6Gb/second ports and four SATA 3Gb/second ports.
The next item is the POST LED, which shows the status of the board when powered on. The left side the board starts off with the FP connections followed by two USB 2.0 headers. The next two items are the PCH Fan and two headers for USB 3.0 ports. Two more fan connectors and the Firewire header are the next items on the board. The board has up to 10 USB 3.0 ports, with four on the board and six on the rear I/O.
The expansion on the board consists of four PCI Express 2.0 graphics slots. Each is rated for x16 operation, but the two slots are always x16 and other two slots are x8 in operation. This board sports a NF200 chip providing the extra PCI Express lanes to support that division. The P67A-UD7 board supports 3-way SLI and CrosssfireX, offering a slew of multi-GPU options for the demanding enthusiast. One PCI Express x1 slot and two PCI slots make up the rest of the expansion options on the board.
The Realtek ALC889 Audio CODEC that fully supports the Intel HD Audio standard provides onboard audio. This provides support for Dolby Home Theater audio, 108dB Signal to Noise ratio and support for high quality Full-rate Lossless Audio for Content Protected media. The Rear I/O on the board consist of a combination PS/2 Mouse/Keyboard port, six USB 3.0 ports, 4 USB 2.0 ports (2 Combo USB 2.0/E-SATA ports), a Firewire a and a Firewire b port, S/PDIF connections, six audio jacks for the onboard audio, and two LAN ports. These can operate in Teaming mode, allowing for up to 2Gb/second transfers.
