ATEN has a very intriguing product on their hands with the VM0404H Digital Video Matrix Switch. Rather than focus on the home entertainment center uses of this switch in the conclusion I want to leave you with a few thoughts. Imagine trying to market a new product at say a GameStop or Fry’s and wanting to use several monitors to display the same message or demo. Using this system a business such as those could easily connect four monitors off a single computer running the same system instead of using a separate system to each. The high cost of the switch makes this unit unattractive to the home theater user except in the most extreme of cases, but it can save time and space. The ATEN DVMS is an excellent product for those having the need for multiple selectable HDMI inputs and a variable HDMI output, bars, churches and anyone who has this need will find the VM0404H a very handy tool. Having the choice of 4 feeds and the option of showing one or all monitors on the same or a different feed is a niche market, but one not to be ignored.
