Asus RT-N16 Wireless SuperSpeed N Router Review

Fri, 2011-04-29 12:51 -- Shane N.

Asus’ RT-N16 has some great features: a great interactive easy to use GUI, USB ports for file sharing over the network, and an EzQoS bandwidth manager which allows you to distribute the bandwidth where it is most needed. The speed of the router is amazingly fast and stable at close range. It also allows for multiple devices to be connected to the network and none of them would hinder speed of the internet. However, once we move the devices away from the router; the speed and connectivity to the router quickly diminished. Asus needs to improve their performance over large distances. It was a real let down because its competitors such as Linksys and Netgear achieved much better performance over the same distance when far away. The two USB ports were great for sharing files across the network and sharing a printer between multiple devices. Asus’ RT-N16 had no problem connecting any device on the network to the printer or the external storage device simultaneously. It was also great that the router supported NTFS-formatted drives so it could read external hard drives with a huge storage capacity. Overall, the Asus RT-N16 offers a lot of great features that its competitors have not included while still maintaining a decent performance. It is priced at about $99.99 dollars and is worth taking a look at if you are looking for a more than average wireless router.
