Asus RT-N16 Wireless SuperSpeed N Router Review

Fri, 2011-04-29 12:51 -- Shane N.

There are five different features on the side menu that RT-N16 offers. Features include: Network Map, UPnP Media Server, AiDisk, EzQoS Bandwidth Management, and Advanced Setting. The Network Map shows the various devices that are connected to the network and allows you to configure some of the basic functions of the router on the right. UPnP Media Server and AiDisk are both features that allow any user on the network to access the external storage device. The UPnP Media Server allows devices such as a PS3, HDTV with internet, or digital media player, to access multimedia files while the AiDisk allows any device on the network to access any file on the external storage device. The files were loaded on to network and only took 1-2 seconds to navigate through individual folders. This was great for sharing various files across any device connected to the network. The EzQoS (Easy Quality of Service) Bandwidth Management ensures the performance of the internet speed by enabling the user to prioritize the bandwidth that they desire for each application. I found this tool to be very useful because I could adjust the bandwidth so that I could play games online efficiently while not being disturbed by another user who is streaming video.  Lastly, the Advanced Setting allows more advanced users to tweak their router that best suits the user.

Overall, the Asus RT-N16 offers a lot of great features that its competitors have not included while still maintaining a decent performance. It is priced at about $99.99 dollars and is worth taking a look at if you are looking for a more than average wireless router.
