Introduction
Expansion slots on a motherboard are designed to accept peripheral cards that add functionality to a computer system, such as a video or a sound card. Over the years the expansion slot bus has been a major system bottleneck, and just as new processors are constantly released to improve system performance new BUS standards are being designed and released, although on a much slower schedule.
