One of the things that I really enjoy about doing cooling reviews is seeing the different ideas each company comes up with to not only better their product line, but to give us, the consumers, more options from which to choose. Variety is indeed the spice of life and as anyone who has looked into buying an after-market heatsink knows, Thermaltake has been creating some interesting innovations for a long time now. Today on the testing block is one of their latest endeavors and another in their long line of the highly successful Volcano series, the Silent Boost. What is it that is new and different about this model? Well, it's all about the fan this time around, and what an interesting fan it is. Known as the Hydro Wave Bearing fan and sporting a very unique slotted fan housing, it is touted as being very low noise (the Silent part) while still giving high performance (the Boost part). The question remains will it be the strong yet silent type and work as advertised, or will it turn out to be mild and wimpy? Read on, fellow searchers of cool, and let's find out. Special thanks go out to Weller Chen of Thermaltake for sending this unit in for testing and review.
